By clear definition, our name suggests we are not animals but especially human beings who are content. Raan as we know is one person and Neytin Naath is plural of Raan and one might be wondering about the difference, and this is true. You have the right to know that we have big differences with animals. All Animals, whether full or partly mixed animals and humans, have characteristics of following their desires regardless of laws restriction or limitation and human beings obey laws and this resulted in totally full respect to other people belonging and offending. Animals can attack you without neither reason nor giving you warning. So, what this means in this context, it means Nuer are just surrounded by animals. If you don’t believe me, examine this by looking into our cultures of different tribes of Southern Sudan. You will find Naath’s Culture is the best of all. It has Human Right Laws on it. People in each family say genders are governed by laws. Everyone is oriented or is disciplined from childhood to adulthood to know his or her positions, what to do and what not to do. Boys and girls are exceptional to many restrictions, but men and marriage women are fully restricted to many things like for example, men live in their designed men section area, cannot eat fruit or milking a cow and wife or wives in their designate women area mainly kitchen and cannot leave house to go somewhere without asking permission from her husband except when goes to fetch water and collect fire woods and these are just some few. There are a lot of restrictions to them which I did not mention here. Also, both genders, wife and husband do have different jobs and different activities. Women jobs are mostly to prepare foods for even and morning while men jobs take cattle to grassing, and protect them against wild animals, build huts for their family and cattle housing, and join other men to go to defend and so on. This concludes my talk. I admitted that our culture has been changed by children who are not born in and grow up in our culture due to wars displacements, but remember, our names Ram-mi-Raan as Neytin Naath suggested that we are not animals but human being and without us ruling this country, it will never be stable. Hope this makes sense!
